You've done a great job of defining the basic functionality of the News Portal product, but as Alin can attest, I needed to ask a million questions.  I try very hard to respect peoples time - its tough to be in support.  I reviewed every video you had and read every bit of documentation.  The struggles I ran into were significant to the point that we almost abandoned NP as the tool.  The essential piece missing is the overall architecture and flow of your system.  How the various zones relate to one another, how they should be used, etc.  If you could provide a set of documentation that dives a couple more levels deeper into how to use this great tool to accomplish different types of News Portal Installations...  Some like top>leading>more structures, orther have parallel paths like we do.

Again, great job, can't wait to see where you take it...

Hi Jeff,

Did you read our manual? If yes, can you give me a list of what exactly is missing there? We will add it gladly. Thanks so much.

Hi Merav,
I am a new News Portal user (going live very shortly).. I have to agree 100% with Jeff - the documentation is lacking. Have a review of all the questions asked here in the forum ...if you can't find the answer in the documentation, then that's why people are asking it here.
NP is the best product I have found for this purpose, but I too struggled with it. This suggests a deficiency somewhere either in the intuitiveness of the product (eg. when creating a menu item pointing to a section layout - why can't you specify the section ID which would seem an obvious requirement?. The answer eluded me, I couldn't find it in the UI, couldn't find it in the documentation, resorted to asking here on the forum. After further search, I discovered it had been asked before too (apologies, I know I should have searched further before asking). Another example, where do articles go after the drop off the end of the "more news" section ? Is there any way to provide links to them via news portal ? (ie. a prev/next link etc - surely a common requirement.)... I'm currently trying to find out how to do this - and it's not in the documentation!

You have a good product which could potentially be a great one, and good support staff that are probably overworked answering questions that we should be answering ourselves in the docs.... & maybe NP could probably do with a new release to implement some of the obvious quirks.

Keep up the good work though... looking forward to hearing about new Magazine release coming soon. Any news?

best regards & thanks,
Aidan.

Thank you for this. Are there any other questions you don't think are being answered? Let me know please and I will add all of them to the manual and create videos for that too.

As for menu issue, this will be fixed for the next release, top priority.

As for second issue, we will think of a good way to do this. On our next major release.
