A professional-looking online magazine that attracts and entertains
users will require some homework. Here are a few things you can do
before you publish to make your magazine easy and entertaining:
- Choose the articles you want to display in each edition;
- Buy some good quality royalty-free images. We recommend BigStockPhoto.com. You can find great quality photos for only $1-2 per photo;
- Match the images to each article;
- Decide on the number of vertical items you'd like to display. We
recommend three to five vertical items but it depends on the available
width of your template and the size of your thumbnails;
- Decide on the number of horizontal articles you wish to display;
- Create your thumbnails. For best results we HIGHLY recommend that
you use the same size for all the vertical items and the same, smaller
size for all the horizontal items;
- Create your large images for the body of the article. A horizontal
image that will take up the entire width of the template usually works
best.
You're then ready to start creating your own iJoomla Magazine. Here's how you do it:
- Install the iJoomla Magazine components by clicking "components" in the "installers" menu;
- Install the four modules by clicking "modules" in the "installers" menu;
- Install the mambot for quotes and multiple pages;
- Create an edition by clicking "new" after bringing up
"editions" in the "magazine" section of the "components"
menu. Enter the title and the name of the edition and choose the main
image. This image will appear on the magazine home page and will link
to the first article of this edition. Finally, save this edition.
- Add content to this edition by clicking "content" in the
"magazine" menu. Click "new" and enter a title to show above
the article. Choose between a vertical or horizontal article, enter quotes if
you wish and set the home page and article images. (Normally, the home
page image will be a small image and the article image will be large.

- Publish your edition by clicking "settings" in the
"magazine" menu. Choose the magazine name, the title to be placed
above the horizontal articles and the edition you wish to make current.
Set the number of vertical and horizontal articles to display and enter
the styles of the magazine element if you wish. Finally, select the
image for the separator and you're ready to go!
