Settings

General Setting Tab

The General Setting tab includes the following options:

  • Direction - Choose the direction of search results: Left-to-right or right-to-left.
  • Results per page - Set the number search results to show by default.
  • Display Result Number - Allow users to change the number of results per page.
  • Sort by - Choose how to sort search results.
  • Search results mode - Show results in text or HTML. (We recommend text; the results will not include HTML tags.)
  • Description characters - Set the maximum number of characters include in the search results.
  • Title characters - Set the maximum number of characters to include in the title.
  • Show Date and Time - Show or hide the article's original publishing date and time.
  • Show Author - Show or hide the author's name in the search results.
  • Show Category - Show or hide the article's parent category in the search results.
  • Show Section - Show or hide the article's parent section in the search results.
  • Show Word Count - Show or hide the article's word count in the search results.

Thumbnail Settings

Thumbnail settings let you choose the following parameters for your search result thumbnails:

  • Show thumbnails - Show or hide thumbnail of articles. You can also choose whether to link the thumbnail to the article.
  • Thumbnail size in px - Set the width of the thumbnail; the height will be calculated proportionally.
  • Thumbnail border - Show or hide the thumbnail border, and select border color.
  • Image wrap - Wrap (or don't wrap) text around the thumbnail.
  • Image margin - Control the image margin in each direction.
  • Inner padding - Choose the image padding in each direction.
  • Image alignment - Align the thumbnail left or right.

Item Settings

Control the appearance of your search results by setting the:

  • Margin - Control the margin around search items in each direction.
  • Inner padding - Define the space between the search items and the border in each direction.
  • Border - Show or hide the border around the search items, and set the color of the border.
  • Background color - Choose the background color for the search result.

Table Settings

Tables that appear in the search results can be defined in the following ways:

  • Date Column - Show or hide the date column.
  • Author Column - Show or hide the author column.
  • Hits Column - Show or hide the hits column.
  • Table Headings - Show or hide the table headings.
  • Navigation Bar - Show or hide the navigation bar.
  • Order Select - Show or hide the select order drop down menu.
  • Display Select - Show or hide the select display drop down menu.
  • Display Number - Set the number of items to be displayed by default.
  • Filter - Show or hide the filter ability.
  • Filter Field - Set the field to which the filter shall apply.

Search Tab

The Search tab allows publishers to define how the search function works:

  • Snippets - Select the number of snippets to show in the results.
  • Grab content from - Choose the source of the content: intro text, full text, or context.
  • Return result from - Choose which content item to search: static or dynamic, or both.
  • Search results format - Choose the search results format: table or search results.
  • And define whether or not the keyword must be at the beginning of the phrase in order to be found.

The search page contains nine search fields. Choose to show or hide any of them:

  • Whole words only
  • All of the words
  • The exact phrase
  • At least one of the words
  • Without the words
  • Title
  • Author
  • Days
  • Date range

Archive Tab:

Use the Archive tab to:

  • Show or hide links that have no items.
  • Set whether to let user choose the order of archive items.
  • Set the results format: table or search results.
  • Define the items to show: only archive items, only live items, or both.
  • Choose the source of the description: intro text, full text, or both.

The archive offers six different zones:

  • Sections & categories
  • Years & month
  • Last 7 days
  • Last 4 weeks
  • By Author
  • Magazines & issues (for iJoomla Magazine users)

The Archive zone features let publishers choose:

  • The zones to show or hide.
  • The order of the zones.
  • The number of rows and columns to display in each zone.
  • Whether to show the number of items in each link.
  • The default ordering for Sections & Categories, and Author zone.

Sections & Categories Tab:

Use the Sections & Categories tab to choose:

  • The sections and categories that will be searched and archived.
  • The ordering of sections and categories in the archive page.

Styling Tab:

The Styling tab is used to choose a styling class for the:

  • Heading (archive page)
  • Heading background class (archive page)
  • Item background class (1) (archive page)
  • Item background class (2) (archive page)
  • Item numbers: (search results)
  • Created date and time (search results)
  • Word count (search results)
  • Search Title (search results)

Colors Tab:

The Colors tab is used to choose:

  • Which of ten colors to use to highlight keywords.
  • Text color and background color.

Content Tab:

Enter content on the Content Tab to show

  • Above the search page.
  • Above the archive page.

Meta Tab:

The meta tab can be used on both the both search and archive pages:

  • Enter the title meta tag.
  • Enter the keyword meta tag.
  • Enter the description meta tag.
