iJoomla.com's Scroller Component Makes The News
|
Sometimes, the old-fashioned way is best. Sure, Internet sites can deliver the news as it happens. Yes, they can do it with whiz-bang graphics, video and sound. And they can update events as information comes in. But there's still nothing like the sight of a scroller tapping out the latest details as they pour in off the wires... or your content database. Which is why iJoomla, creators of iJoomla Magazine and the iJoomla News Portal has created the first multi-line scroller component. And they're giving it away for free.
"We were looking for a scroller to recommend for use with our News Portal," explains Merav Knafo, founder of iJoomla.com and the designer of iJoomla's new component, "but we just couldn't find anything that worked reliably and which also had the range of features we know our customers need. So we made our own."
The component lets publishers place a scroller in any module position and format it without using CSS or HTML. Publishers can select the content categories to include in the scroller, as well as every aspect of the scroller's appearance, its speed and whether to link the title of the item to the article. They can even set the text to run vertically instead of horizontally if they wish.
Although the component was designed for users of the iJoomla News Portal, a specialized component that turns Web pages into news sites, the scroller can be used on any Joomla site. "The result will always be a dynamic website with the feel of constant change and breaking news," says Merav. "And it will look great too."
