Due to many request and our desire to take iJoomla DigiStore to the next level, we've completely revamped its tax system and now it's so powerful you can use it in any country. Here are some details about this new tax system:

Product tax classes

The "Product tax classes" manager allows you to define different tax classes. You will be able to choose any of these product tax classes for any product you place in your store, giving you maximum flexibility.

Customer tax classes

The "Customer tax classes" manager lets you define different customer tax classes. For example, you could set one class for "retail customers" and another class for "wholesale customers."

A setting on the General tab allows customers to select their customer tax class or you can choose the definition yourself. You could, for example, change a customer’s class to "wholesale" and allow them to pay a bulk purchase rate.

Tax rates

The "Tax rates manager" lets you set tax rates based on country, state and zip codes. You can even upload your own list of rates, giving you unlimited control over the amount you need to collect. Click the "(View sample rates file)" link to find an example of the file format you can upload.

Tax rules

Tax rules are where everything comes together. You can set a "rule" based on the customer tax class, the product tax class, the tax rate and even the product family. The rule determines automatically the tax your customers will pay for each product.

Product families

"Product families" is a sub-menu of "products" and leads to the Product Families manager where you can create and add product families such as "software" or "hardware." Each time you create a new product, you will have to choose a Product Family to categorize them.
