You've got a great magazine, outstanding content and lots of happy readers. Now you want the rewards.
Many of our customers have asked us to add a subscription feature to iJoomla Magazine that would restrict their articles to paying customers or to registered users. We thought that was a great idea. So we had a look at what would be involved, reviewed what was out there... and came to the conclusion that there's already a product available that does a fantastic job.
We'd like to introduce: JContentSubscription by JoomlaEquipment. This is an easy-to-use component with 6 mambots that allows you to create subscription plans for your Joomla site. You could use JContentSubscription to do a whole host of tasks for your magazine. For example, you could allow non-subscribers to view issue home pages but not the articles themselves. Or you can keep the entire magazine (including issue home pages and articles) off limits to anyone who hasn't either registered or paid. Subscription fees can be charged via PayPal, 2CheckOut or by email. Each payment method can be installed using a plug-in that comes with the package.

How to get started:
Installation & Configuration
Install Component:
The com_contentsubscription.v.1.x.x.zip is a main component. Install in the same way as any component.
Install core plug-in:
The plug-in is needed to control users' access to articles. The component will not work without these plug-ins.
- Install plug-ins (mambots): bot_jcontentsubscription.component.v.1.x.zip, bot_jcontentsubscription.content.v.1.4.zip and bot_jcontentsubscription.granter.v.1.0.zip in the same way as any other plug-in.
- Publish all plug-ins.
- No configuration is needed.
Install payment processor plug-ins:
The payment processor will allow your customers to purchase a subscription online.
- To offer Paypal subscriptions, install joomlaequipment.payprocessor.paypal.v.1.2.zip.
- To offer 2CO subscriptions, install joomlaequipment.payprocessor.2co.v.1.2.zip.
- To offer subscriptions via email, install joomlaequipment.payprocessor.email.v.1.2.zip.
- Go to mambot->site mambots and publish your chosen plug-in.
Each plug-in has a different configuration so you'll need to open it for editing. For example, PayPal requires an email address, while 2checkout asks for a vendor ID. Be sure you have entered everything correctly.
Note: On 2checkout, change the language from "ru" to your language, such as "en" for English.
After you've installed JContentSubscription, you can start managing your subscriptions.
Component Management:
Create Subscriptions
- Go to menu->components->subscriptions->subscriptions
- Click "new" on toolbar.
- Complete the form:
- Name: Name of the subscription (Example: 10 Day Try-it-out Subscription)
- Days: The number of days the subscription is active (Example: 365)
- Price: The amount that will be charged for this subscription. (Example: 10.00)
- Description: The subscription description.
- Type: Here we recommend two possible subscriptions that are likely to be most appropriate for an online magazine:
- Restrict by article category - Visitors can see the issue home pages but not the articles themselves;
- Restrict by component - Visitors will not be able to see the magazine issues at all
- Click save on toolbar.
- Test.
It's all very easy but If you do find you need help, please contact joomlaequipment.com. They offer great support.
