Creating a survey from scratch takes several steps:
- Preparation;
- Adding a survey;
- Adding pages;
- Adding questions;
- Adding skip logic (optional).
Preparation
 Before you start creating your survey using the iJoomla Surveys component, it's highly recommended that you plan your survey. You will need to know:
- The number and subjects of the pages the survey will contain;
- Your survey questions and the pages to which they belong;
- The type of questions that will best produce the information you need;
- Whether to use Skip Logic to structure your survey;
- How to end your survey.
Adding a survey
Before you can create your first survey, you must first add at least one survey. To add a survey, select Manage surveys->surveys and click New.
On the General tab, enter the survey name and description.
Select the Image tab if you wish the insert an image, and the Handling tab: choose to show or hide the results from your respondents.
Switch to the Publishing tab and choose whether and when to publish the survey, the access level and order. Surveys are unpublished by default so that you can work on them before launch.
Select the Pop-Up tab to choose whether to show a pop-up invitation, to define the size of the pop-up and to enter your invitation text.
Finally, choose the Finishing tab, enter a title and text, (for example, your title could be "Survey completed" and the text could be "Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey".) You can also specify whether you want to show or hide the survey results so far and enter a redirection URL.
Adding pages
In order to add questions, you must first add at least one page to your survey. To add a page, select Manage surveys-> Pages and click New.
On the General tab, enter the page name and description. Use the Image tab if you wish to add an image on this page, and the Publishing tab to choose whether and when to publish this page. Pages are published by default.
Adding questions
To add questions, choose Manage surveys-> Questions and click New.
On the Question tab, choose the parent survey. The page will refresh to show the pages in that survey. Select a parent page and enter a question. You can also use the "description" field to enter a comment about the question, if you wish.
Decide whether this question will be required, and the type of question you wish to ask. Based on your selection you might be offered a text field for further information. |
