While Joomla CMS's open source nature is frequently
discussed, what's often neglected is the role of the program itself. Joomla is
a content management system. Publishers create content, place it on their
Joomla CMS and use the program to serve what they write to their users.
It's up to the publisher then to decide how to organize that
content -- and of course, to decide which content to post. It's with the
content creation -- and in particular, the creation of quality content that
people genuinely want to read -- that any successful Joomla site begins.
Once that's mastered, the advantages of the open source
nature of Joomla CMS kick in. The modules and the bots let the publisher
display the content in a range of different ways, from RSS feeds and blogs to
comments and polls.
But ultimately, which extensions you choose to use are less
important than what you choose to use them for. If the content part of Joomla
CMS is neglected, no site based on an open source content management system is
going to stay open for business for long.
A successful Joomla CMS site requires a mixture of the right
modules and good writing. |
