Hello,

I'm using News Portal with JA-Teline template. Everything's working fine but the "split menu" feature of this template. Just set your template to split menu and the second level disappear.

I think it is not a template problem, because I've tested it without News Portal and it works fine.

I've posted at JA-Teline Forum too but I still get no response.

I've had a similar problem with rt-Vortex and News Portal: menu icons don't highlight. The only icon highlighted is "home".

Can you help me?

Luis

i have the same problem.

"Second levels" dond work with NP, at least in rochetheme and joomlart templates.
They dont get the active state, maybe something with item ids.

I am waiting for a fix for this, i have NP has home page, and several sub menus "under" it, wen my visitor click one of the menus the second level desapear and they must go to the first page to see the links again.

News portal categories and sections dont work either. wen you open a cetegory or section the active state on the menu is lost.

I have the same issue with adjestment of menus.
The problem is in how News Portal generate links for "Featured Sections" and "Featured Categories". As Itemid it appends to the link the itemid of the menu to which News Portal belongs itself. For example, I have link the Menu Item "Home Page" to the Component "iJoomla News Portal". Now the link to my Joomla's front page is

.../index.php?option=com_news_portal&Itemid=30

Then links to NP's featured categories or sections or content items will have always the same Itemid at the end, in my case, "Itemid" which is id of NP itself. Example link for home page of featured section and category:

/index.php?option=com_news_portal& task=section&id=5&Itemid=30
/index.php?option=com_news_portal& task=category&id=16&Itemid=30

Therefore it ihighlights the menu of News Portal Component.
I would be grateful if somebody explains me how to adjust Joomla's menu, items of which would point to the NP's featured sections or categories, in order not to use the Joomla's original category or section lists at all.

I just wanted to tie this issue in with my original issue here as they both stem from how itemids are appended. At the moment the best I can offer is a solution I haven't really tested yet. The itemids are gathered in function getItemidSC in the file news_portal.class.php (0.19). If you move the joomla menu links from the 'sections' menu to 'mainmenu' then you need to tell ijoomla news to pull the itemids from 'mainmenu'. I believe you can accomplish this by changing 'sections' to 'mainmenu' in the queries on lines 73, 87, and 102. These lines look something like:

Code:
. "\n AND m.menutype = 'sections'"

As I said before, I think it's a feasible option to allow for a nice user interface to link sections to menu items in the ijoomla news config. But hopefully this will work for now.

It's a real problem - basically, the reason we abandoned iJoomla News Portal several months ago after working with you on it. It would be great if this was fixed, but simply won't cut it for us if we can't have a second level menu working with the component...
