problem of many issues in dropdowns and menu item links

Correct me if I am missing something, but I foresee a problem as the number of issues accumulates:

1) The dropdown menus where issues are selected will grow to a very large size, making the selection process slow and cumbersome.

2) Each magazine is given a menu itemid and each issue within each magazine is treated as a submenu with its own itemid. This allows module layout variation per issue, but it will also result in a HUGE list of menu items in the module pages/item assignment list.

If I use the ijoomla search and archive extension, do archived issues disappear from the dropdowns and/or module assignment lists?

1. That is correct, this is how it works now.

You can choose to not use this module but use the archive page instead, then you can control how many rows and columns to show and it's more user friendly.
