Post subject: Control of the content page
|
|
|
Hello,
I've been using the News Portal now for some time, and if there's one thing that always rise to the top of my most-wanted list, it is the ability to control the 'content-page', you know the page you arrive at when you click on an article link in News Portal.
I know you can modify this page by modifying 'content.html.php' in the com_content directory, but it's a tall order in most cases - and it would just be great to have the same simple command of this part of the site as you have over the presentation.
Cheers,
Bjorn |

Hi,
Your suggestions are always welcome
Here, you see Joomla is a CMS(Content Management System) and IJoomla News Portal is its component, more exactly it is a component that makes revolution by allowing users to manipulate layout of multiple content items that were previously blog or table like. It was not designed to be a content management system.
However there are some iJoomla components that enable you to make single content item more richer in appearance like iJoomla SideBars are.
Also, you can affect on look of content item pages by altering template css file.
If you were having some wishes like some mambot that would display some part of news portal than you might define your wish in more detail.
Thank you for your feedback!

Thank you for your reply.
I wasn't so much after the ability to change the css of the page, but rather the ability to easily change for structure and build of the single page. Say I want to have <divs> instead of <table>, or if I want to wrap a hard coded sidebar into the page.
I know you can do this to a certain degree with the sidebars component, but it would just be very good to have full control of the single article page itself. It is the only thing I haven't done much with in my site. |

Hi,
Yes sidebars component can make a lot of things, you can see and try it on demo site. In any case you can always make a custom mambot that would satisfy what you want to achieve and it doesn't has to be related to any component.
Changing tables to divs would require you to change Joomla core file com_content.html.php that you have mentioned at your first post.
Maybe a Joomla 1.5 will make some significant changes on this field - than I think it wouldn't be a problem for iJoomla to make friendly user interface for it.
Why don't you try SideBars on demo site http://www.ijoomlademo.com/administrator/index.php maybe thay can satisfy most of your needs.
