Caption for main page image

i'd like the ability to add a small caption under the image thumbnail that appears on the main News Portal page. For example, when we have a mugshot of a person in our main story, it would be nice to be able to insert the name of that person.

I can insert captions under the images in the actual articles themselves using JCE Editor + Caption plug-in, but these captions don't show up on the main news portal page, of course, since they're not actually part of the image.

Another nice feature would be a feature that would ignore the first line of text in an article when pulling story text for the main news portal page.

When we write stories, we put a sub-heading as the first line of text in the article, but we've had to delete this sub-heading because we don't want it show up on the main news portal page. Or if it does show up, we want it to be formatted differently than the rest of the text in the article.

Perhaps news portal could retain some of the formatting from the articles, for example, if the first sentence in an article is bold or a different color, it could appear bold or as a different color on the main news portal page as well.

See the caption inserted under the photo in my story? That's inserted with the Joomla JCE Editor + caption plug-in. I want a way to make that caption show up under my photo on my news portal page.
