Hi
This issue has been discussed in a recent post but to be 100% honest I didnt undestand the solution , so I'm posting this myself in the hope of a step by step solution, this is really hampering my use of ijoomla.
Problem
Website: http://www.thedubailife.com/dl
I have done the following to keep it simple and make sure i have mde no mistakes.
1. Install Joomla
2. Install Ja Teline template
3. Install ijoomla etc
4. Created menu linkl to ijoomla news called "ijoomla"
4. Created section called World News
5. Created Cat called UK
6. Created Blog Section linlk to Wolrd News
7. Created Blog Cat lin to UK , making sure It was a sub menu for World News
8. Added a content item, in UK as a test
When i use teh standard Menu at the top the relevent bits are highlighted etc on World News . highlights the World News Tab, clickiong on the UK , highlights UK too.
However when i click on Ijoomla and then click on World News and/or UK , the releveant menu , and submenu is not highlighted .. the pathway is correct but the rest isnt.
This is NOT a template issue because i have tried it with other templates and it still doesnt work..
Any solutions?

Hi,
well you see when you get to an item clicking on links generated by News Portal it is supposed to highlight menu items related to news portal itself.
you see in this two steps
| Quote: |
6. Created Blog Section linlk to Wolrd News
7. Created Blog Cat lin to UK , making sure It was a sub menu for World News
|
you created menu links related to com_content and in news portal items you get are related to com_news_portal and Itemid is what makes highlighting menu items possible.
So, your goal is to have these links for menu items in step 6 and 7:
http://thedubailife.com/dl/index.php?option=com_news_po rtal&task=section&id=4&Itemid=38
http://thedubailife.com/dl/index.php?option=com_news_po rtal&task=category&id=13&Itemid=38
Then they should be highlighted.
Try it like this:
1. Delete or just unpublish your old menu items
2. For menu in step 6 make new menu item choosing Link -URL as a type of menun item
3. In field meant for link enter
| Code: |
index.php?option=com_news_portal&task=section&i d=4&Itemid=38
|
and save menu item
4. For submenu in step 7 make new menu item also choosing Link -URL as a type of menu item
5. In field meant for link enter
| Code: |
index.php?option=com_news_portal&task=category& id=13&Itemid=38
|
and save menu item
If then you still don't see World News or UK (now new menu items) highlighted try removing this part &Itemid=38 from the links I wrote.
Let me know how did it go.

That solution worked once i took the Item38 OFF the URL
Thanks for that... howeveer there are a couple of other issues, now this maybe beyond the scope of solving but here goes.
1.
Once you click on Wolrdnews -> UK
and then on the item that appears , it goes to the link
http://thedubailife.com/dl/index.php?option=com_content &task=view&id=14&Itemid=38
World News , NOR UK are highlighted
2.
Once you clock on world news [from top menu], then click on "UK" from within ijoomla ,
the URL is
http://thedubailife.com/dl/index.php?option=com_news_po rtal&task=category&id=13&Itemid=39
The world news is highlighed , but UK not (its there but not highlighted), change the ItemID to "40" tjhen it works.
Thats all for now there are issues with the pathway as well , but i will try the stuff advised on the forum for that issue.
Thanks

I'm using Versatality iii from RocketTheme and the main menu also shows on top. If you add a sub menu to the main menu as URL-LINK it WILL show on top as a dropdown and it looks pretty good.
just thought i'd help.
