Post subject: VAT calculation

Hi, I purchased Digistore yesterday.
after overcoming the ioncube problem by putting the ioncube loader in the root of the site I stumbled into some minor bugs regarding the language.
I translated the english.digistore.php into german and saved it as german.digistore.php and added the according xml-file. Unfortunately when switching to german the backend was in German while the frontend stayed english.
Additionally I learned that some items of the modules are not included in the language file. These are encoded into the mod-files which is a bit of annoying. e.G. the table for the cart, the "view my licences" etc. I had to edit these php-files by hand.
My biggest problem is the following: When I enter an amount of e.g. 29.99 (including VAT) and have defined VAT of 19% the store displays 29.99€ PLUS 19%, resulting in €35.69
And then - when you go to paypal to purchase the item it displays €29.99 again.
It should be possible in the backend to enter brutto prices and the shopping cart only displays the amount and the included VAT.
regards

Thanks, I will ask our programmers to look into these problems and fix them for the next version. _________________ Merav

I mean final amount including VAT.
If your price is 29.99 the invoice should read:
€29.99 including 19% VAT and not
€29.99 plus 19% VAT
When you enter your product's price in the backend you enter the final amount including VAT. So it shouldn't be displayed in your shopping cart as price + VAT. |

No, thats not how it works in a business.
you enter into the system, the price of the product. not the price including VAT.
when you present to the user, you show them the price, and the vat seperately.
you can't calculate it acurately the reverse way.
If when creating a product, you enter the price as 21.99 inc 13% vat... go and calculate the VAT for me.
now, enter a product that costs 19Euro and set a store wide VAT of 13% and you can. because its a store config setting of 13%
Not only does the current method allow you to seperate them, it also allows some companies to purchase tax free (future feature)
So, in summary, the current method is correct. |

you are right BUT:
when your shopping cart says: the price is 29.99 plus VAT (€35.59) and you hit the Paypal button the amount on Paypal should read €35.69 and not €29.99.
This is the error.
I don't care wether I have to enter costs without VAT or costs including VAT in the backend. What counts is that the customer sees the same sum in the shopping cart that he will be charged via Paypal. And this is the problem here. It doesn't. |

I beleive this bug has already been fixed.
If not. please create a support ticket.
Please ensure you're using the latest version of DigiStore when checking. |
