Post subject: How to do a "read all" articles
|
|
|
Playing with a new install of news portal on the dev site and trying to figure out how to get it to provide a path to all the articles in each section. I have about 100 articles posted each day and there's no way (site would load too slowly if at all) to display them all on the "leading" page. So... the question is how do I get a link (or whatever) so the reader can read the other articles?
Thanks for a very nice product. |

Is there a timeframe for this? It's absolutely critical for me.
Thanks.
By the way, the math problems in your anti-spam test are getting harder each time... |

I don't have a time frame, but it is on the list.
The math is always the same, up to 20, no more, maybe use a calculator? I sure do _________________ Merav

In the mean time, you could create a link for your menu which would be a List - Content Section, this creates a listing of content Categories for a particular section.
For example if you have a section called news and three categories
world, national and local and you had 25 stories in world , 50 in national , and 100 stories in local.
Your user would see this list when they click on the link with the number of stories for each.
Then when they click on the category they get the full list.
This is a Joomla function and it would be created from Joomla menu manager.

This sounds like a good possibility. I'll have to mull it over for a bit but it does sound do-able. On my top menu I do have a link that brings up all articles in a blog format and another link that brings up all article titles in a list/table format so I do have this somewhat covered.
From what you've laid out here, I think maybe some sort of menu link could be put in a module and then the module displayed at the end of the section listing. Not sure this would be something that would work, but it's worth a little brain-drain to think about.
Wish I hadn't skipped school when they had HTML and CSS classes... |

| Checking in. Is there any progress on this? I won't be able to use my News portal until we have a solution for being able to read all the articles via a link. Thanks. |
