Post subject: How to add texts to your images...
|
|
|
I started to download some images from "BigPhoto" to insert them on the magazine. I also downloaded GIMP, and I modify the photos to the suggested sizes using this tool....
However, I have not a clear idea of how to add TEXT to the pictures.. I meant, something like the "READ MORE>>>" message that is inserted on the middle on the picture .....
I known that with GIMP I can add some text, but the text that I add is not "pretty"... I meant that it seems as something not natural, not integrated on the picture..
What tool do you suggest me (if possible, free) to add texts with different styles, backgroups, etc ? And.. What typo-s or class of text should I add to the pictures so they seem "professional" ?
For example, I want to add texts as the one on the sample magazine "http://www.givecollege.com/", the ones that says "Choosing your mayor" or "read"[/b] |

We used Fireworks for all the graphics on our demo sites. It's not free but it's the best.
But really almost any image editing software can do a lot of the things we did.
After you place the text on the image, you can give it a shadow or a glow to make it look more sophisticated. You can make some of the text small caps and some big caps to make it more interesting.
Not sure if this helps you, it's hard to explain graphics in one or two sentences but I am sure you can find plenty of tutorials on the web. _________________ Merav
