Post subject: Frustrated by Ijoomla
|
|
|
I'm having a real hard time using Ijoomla.
I cannot get even CLOSE to have a layout, as used all over this site and on the examples given.
I use the original URLs because I do not want to waste all the links I've worked into googles rankings. This point works well now, it seems, but I'm really frustrated that I cannot get the layout even close to anything nice.
Have a look at http://www.crazynight.dk/magazine.html
It begins at the "Crazynight katalog"-point.
I have the following content:
Magazine Manager - Select Type - Vertical Horizontal Vælg kategori Polterabend katalog
# Content Title Content Assigned Published Reorder Category ID Type
1 Lydstudie Polterabend lydstudie Polterabend katalog 1 Vertical
2 Modelkalender Firma årskalender Polterabend katalog 5 Vertical
3 Grand Prix Firma Melodi Grand Prix Polterabend katalog 4 Vertical
4 Pakketilbud Polterabend tilbud Polterabend katalog 3 Horizontal
5 Modelfoto Polterabend modelfoto Polterabend katalog 2 Horizontal
6 Sangliste dansk Dansk sangliste Polterabend katalog 6 Horizontal
I must admit, that until now, this component has been nothing but a complete waste of time for me! |

klp29, please read this and then give more details about what it is you're trying to achieve.
First the width you're working with is too large, it makes it a bit "all over the place". For this particular template, you'll need to add modules on the right and on the left to make it seem better.
Once you do that, you'll need to add some images. The main image should
be 530x170 px, the vertical images should be (for 3 columns) 170x118 px. The horizontal images should be 90x75 px.
I would also remove the inset modulse you have on the right, they mess things up a bit, and move the vertical items to the top, before the horizontal items.
Once you get all that done, please let me know, I will take a look again. I think you're on the right track.
Just like many other softwares, it takes some practice to "get it" but once you do, it should become second nature.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, I will happy to help you achieve what you want.

But we're using the InternetGazette-template from www.rocketdesign.com, so we cannot just change the templates.
One of the reasons why we chose the InternetGazette, is the special "inset" column and the missing left-column.
I think it's a shame that your module needs LOW width and a certain setup of left/right columns, and I'm especialle sad that this info is made available after I bought your component!
I think you're on the wrong path, if you make something to ENHANCE the layout of a site, and then put all sorts of restrictions to width, modules, columns etc. |

These are not really restriction, just suggestions. You can either add modules on the left and right or simply make the images larger and that would work too, but I haven't seen much images yet on your site and images are critical to creating an attractive magazine.
Templates can and should be changed depaning on the needs ot your site.
Please contact me directly and I will be happy to help you achieve what you want. My email is webmaster at ijoomla .com.

I suspect that you're trying to make iJoomla Magazine do things that are beyond its capacity at this point of the development. If you take out the inset modules and keep it simple to start with, you should have no problem at all. Try to unpublished the modules in the center and see what happens.
Like any other software, start simple and then move to more complicated stuff. That's my philosophy |
