Possible to assign different modules to different editions!

I'm not quite getting this. I'm at http://www.highgatevt.org. I would like the right modules to not show up when one chooses an article from the home page. The left modules can stay but the right ones take up too much space. It's fine if you click on the resize button on the top right of the page but I don't want to make the user constantly have to do that. Will the approach being discussed in this thread apply to what I would like to accomplish? If so could someone elaborate on what I need to do?

Well, here's my approach. I created a menu and added links choosing "link-content item" and grabbing the magazine articles and in the parameters section setting and the unique itemid to yes. I then pasted these newly assigned ids to the external links in the magazine article manager (backend). Now when I click the read more link on the frontpage article I go to a page layout that allows me to include/exclude whatever modules I want. This would probably not be the best solution for large sites with monthly editions but I think that it will work for me ... at least for the moment.

I don't mean to pester, but this is the only problem I've had with an otherwise marvellous product. I was willing to overlook the lack of module positioning control for now, but advertisers are starting to question why they can't get per-content positioning on our shiny new site.

Is better module positioning a front-line item for the next version? Or should I start looking into complicated workarounds to solve the problem outside of iJoomla?

Did you download the latest version? it has a new module "menu magazine" that allows you to do that.

The Menu Magazine module - isn't that just a 'list of magazines & editions' ?

I'm confused how it relates to the module positioning problem... I know it is a new feature in '7' - yes I have it - but where's the "How To" guide on it?

It wanted to buy this fabulous tool created by Joomlaworks but it did not have money. Then I thought something:

Step One: In main menu I selected home to publish only an article in the cover of my ciber daily.

Step two: Previously it installs template that it gave to three columns (if it gives but of three columns it is enough with not publishing anything in one of them).

Step 3-- I unloaded the module mod_frontpage_thumbnails that publishes articles of our cover from the article that we indicate to him. Obvious I ordered to him that it published all except first. I published the module in a neighboring column of mainbody (in my case in the column inset).

Step 4--I unloaded the module mod_d4j_content_listing and I copied so many times whichever was necessary to me. To each one of these modules I assigned a different category to him of the news and I published them in different parts.

Step 5--Mod_article_thumbnails also unloads the module although he is very similar to the previous one, since with a little work its code HTML can be modified to change its appearance.

With these three modules any Joomla site lets see itself like blog. With a little work a very complex news system can be created….And without paying a single dollar.
