Title: migrate to iJoomla Magazine 1.5 native
Post by: tigi on May 05, 2008, 01:58:33 AM
I was wondering whether someone has already succesfully migrated an existing iJoomla Magazine site to the new 1.5 native version.

I was searching for how-to's or plugins for the com_migrator since iJoomla has some tables of its own.

best regards, Tigi

Hi,
You only need to upgrade from Joomla! 1.0.x to Joomla! 1.5.x and reinstall iJoomla Magazine 1.5.
Remember make a full backup (dbase and files).
Let me know if you have any doubts about this.
Best regards,

Ok, I can understand that if all content would be stored in the basic joomla tables. My question is, what happens to the content in the jos_magazine tables... or are those tables not iJoomla magazine related?

Hi,
The upgrade to J! 1.5 does not alter those tables.

My magazine tables did not migrate over.  I ran the mtwMigrator component.  None of my issues or any magazine content migrated over.

The component is installed on the new site, but it is empty.

What is the preferred method for migrating to 1.5 with the iJoomla Magazine?

Near as I can tell, there is no way yet to migrate the Magazine tables over to the new installation.  iJoomla Support told me migrating to 1.5 was not supported.

My content migrated fine, but I lost all issues and articles.  It appears the only way to successfully migrate over is to lose all Magazine data from the previous installation and just start fresh.

Best regards,

Thank you.  I really like what I've seen in Joomla 1.5.  Looking forward to moving over.

Hi,
I checked this procedure and you will need to follow these steps:
1-Make a full backup and separately export iJoomla Magazine´s tables.
2-Upgrade from J! 1.0.x to J! 1.5.x.
3-Install iJoomla Magazine for J! 1.5.
4-Replace your iJoomla Magazine 1.5´s tables with the tables exported in the step 1.
Please let me know if you have any doubts.
Best regards,

Thank you.

I guess the last step then is to delete my live installation of 1.0.15 and upload the new 1.5 into the live directory after it's built, right?

If that's it, I'll do it all Friday night when readership slacks off.

How do you "separately export iJoomla Magazine Tables?"  Need more details here or support to do it.  I am frankly afraid to tackle this one alone.  Please advise??!!

Go to phpmyadmin -> export tab. There you can choose which tables you need to export (ex. only magazine tables).
Best regards,

I tried the steps outlined here but while the article listing migrated over the editions and the magazine did not. I only saw two ijoomla mag tables in the 1.0.x install--jos_magazine and jos_magazine_articles. Is the information that ties the articles to editions and magazines stored elsewhere?

Hi,
Go to phpmyadmin, click on Export tab and select only magazine tables.
That´s all.
Let me know if you have any doubts about this.
