Title: Authors / List Post by: xprojectsx on November 23, 2007, 11:37:29 PM I just downloaded and installed this tonight. Not sure if this is a bug or just a How Do I.
All of the registered users show up as "Authors" in the Authors List module even if they don't have Author status or higher in the Joomla or CB users. How do I get that to work properly? Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: xprojectsx on November 24, 2007, 09:34:17 AM This has to be a bug. I will submit a support ticket for this too but it needs to be addressed asap. Despite all backed/frontend and user settings, in addition to ALL of the Joomla users being displayed in the user list, the email addresses are also visible to the world. Very bad practice for a ton of reasons.

I got the same issue. How can I solve this issue? Or do I have to make new support ticket for it? Kind regards Bruce Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: xprojectsx on December 10, 2007, 08:44:10 AM Bruce,
Sorry to hear this but also glad to hear it only so that maybe iJoomla will take this issue more seriously. Are all of your users' email addresses being publicly displayed? That is anyone logged in, registered or not has access to any user's email address via the author list? I had to disable the author list because iJoomla support could not or would not figure out how to fix it and they said I was the only one having this problem. Perhaps if other customers are in fact having this problem they will take it more seriously. To me having user email addresses public is a huge issue that you'd think they'd be all over. Totally not acceptable. Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: mdargie on December 10, 2007, 09:08:56 AM I just installed this component as well, and currently have to suppress my Advertisers from the Ad Agency Component if I want to publish my authors list.
Is it all users (frontend and backend) that get shown? Eek. Hopefully this gets fixed quickly. Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: xprojectsx on December 10, 2007, 09:26:30 AM In my case our intention was to show just one author initially and this would increase to about 10 as we added more authors to the site. Instead EVERY Registered user (in our case close to 3,000) shows up in the Author List. Then when you click on one in the list their email address is fully public. Obviously it would be horribly irresponsible to use the Author List with this problem in place so we have to disable the module. After spending two weeks trying to get a resolution with iJoomla support I hired an outside programmer to look at it. He won't be available though until later this week to begin looking at it seriously.

For my clients this is also a serious issue because I have a strict privacy police for the community. Hopefully this issue will be solved soon. This is a real critical bug. Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: xprojectsx on December 10, 2007, 03:24:00 PM I agree completely!
Since the Joomla community is largely made up of novice webmasters and those who know very little about code, (and exactly why we'd want to use a component like iJoomla Magazine) Who knows how many iJoomla mag customers are unknowingly publishing private information to the world and contributing to spam and other devious activities. Quote Hopefully this issue will be solved soon. This is a real critical bug. Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: alin on December 11, 2007, 10:45:53 AM Hi Bruce,

Thanks, Alin Title: Re: Authors / List Post by: paperboy on January 22, 2008, 01:34:24 PM OK, if this was solved someone should say so, cause after reading this i checked my magazine and the email did show but once i edited the authors list and checked don't show email, now the emails don't show, so i'm not sure what this is all about, not to take awy from your problem i'm just saying i does work fine for me, i got the latest version of all the extensions though.
