Title: bit of a blonde question re domains... Post by: undermyhat on November 05, 2007, 01:21:50 PM OK, so this might sound dumb.. I am setting up a new iJoomla (Magazine + Digistore) site from scratch for a charity. They already have an existing site (bestbeginnings.info) on a different hosting provider, but I'm not ready to just move the domain over to the new web host as there's no content there yet. The previous site isn't Joomla and I'm not moving any of those files over.
So I've got a new web hosting account on a new domain at bbappeal.org. I'm setting up all my Joomla content and installed Magazine and Digistore here. But when the site is ready, I need to get bestbeginnings.info and set it as the primary domain for my new Joomla site (not just point it). When I downloaded Magazine and Digistore I set bbappeal.org as the dev url and bestbeginnings.info as the live site url. But how do I switch it over? Can I just uninstall the dev mods and coms and reinstall the live ones without losing all my settings, products, magazines etc.... Any advice welcome, as you can tell I'm a complete iJoomla newbie and never done this switching domains thing before! Thanks Title: Re: bit of a blonde question re domains... Post by: merav on November 05, 2007, 06:06:02 PM When you are ready to move your site to the live domain, move everything and download the live domain package and re-install it, you will not lose any information. On digistore you will have to re-install the payment plugin and enter the paypal information again.
Title: Re: bit of a blonde question re domains... Post by: undermyhat on November 05, 2007, 10:03:44 PM brilliant, thanks...so is it the com_magazine and com_digistore I reinstall or all the mods and mambots too? And do I have to delete things first or can I just overwrite with the new bits?
Thanks! Title: Re: bit of a blonde question re domains... Post by: RicardoCorai on November 06, 2007, 09:04:55 AM Hi undermyhat,
You to do a full reinstalation of iJoomla Magazine and DigiStore (components, modules and mambots). Don't delete anything. Just uninstall and reinstall. Regards,
