1  iJoomla News Portal / Support Questions / Re: my site is sloooooow! on: July 24, 2008, 07:12:36 PM
Yeah but they probably have 1 section for every 30 sections I have. That's the difference. My hosting company is lunar pages, per this sites recommendation. I don't know about "server settings" but I'm calling it a conspiracy! Grin

No big deal, maybe I'll just keep ijoomla for my homepage for now but nothing else...I just need help with the transition and yes, a ticket was submitted. You guys have always been helpful.

Interesting. How I see it, this makes my current structure unaffordable. Using ijoomla looks great but the resource usage is too expensive for my budget. It sucks because I've spent so much time with SEO and what not but if I have to go back to the older crappier look I will. Like mentioned, there are module alternatives that I don't prefer but 30 second load times are worse than things not "looking" great.  Undecided

Could someone explain what "connection issues" means exactly?

I was told from going on Joomla forums that mambots and ijoomla may be the issue. 30 second load time is not acceptable when I pay nearly $200 monthly and my site is not even workable. It sucks and all my time is consumed trying to fix something that won't fix and tearing apart the site in the process.

Do I have too many sections/categories (over 100)? Would stripping it down help? I can't afford to keep the site up and what I'm paying makes no difference in speed or uptime (crashes weekly). I feel like I'm getting ripped off by Lunar Pages and I'm just looking for a solution so I can have a site to be proud of.

This may be a similiar issue to my post about my site being sloooow. Excessive CSS code is one big issue. I love news portal and all but I pay tons for hosting and my dedicated server with lunar pages still crashes...
5  iJoomla News Portal / Support Questions / my site is sloooooow! on: July 17, 2008, 09:10:49 PM
I have a dedicated server and pay a ridiculous amount at Lunar Pages. Still, my site (DeathRattleSports.com) is painfully slow. I've gotten rid of pretty much all excessive bots and have been told it could be because of news portal.

I love news portal but at this rate can't really afford to pay any more and really, should not need to. Anyone else have these issues and/or have advise?

Thanks.
6  iJoomla Search & Archive / Suggestions/Ideas / integration with community Builder on: February 17, 2008, 09:34:53 AM
There are many nifty ways you could incorporate all of your components with CB, but with Archive in particular it would be cool if an authors articles could be shown as it is if you search their author name.

Right now, the article option with CB only shows article titles which is annoying. Presenting the author page well makes a HUGE difference in how authors use their profile page.

Let me know if you all have any thoughts on this. Thanks.
7  iJoomla News Portal / Suggestions/Ideas / Re: Special Zone For Cross-posting on: November 13, 2007, 01:35:23 PM
The ability to assign articles to multiple sections/categories is what is holding news portal (a great component) back for me. I've messaged them before and the only response has been "we have not thought about that"...or something. I'm not dogging them or anything, just saying it likely want come soon if at all. I'll keep posting stuff until I know it is or is not ever going to be plausible. Wink

There are numerous sites that I "compete" with that achieve this goal. We've come to the conclusion we will one day have to do this with or without joomla in order to compete.
8  iJoomla Sidebars / Pre-Sales Questions / Re: universal in content items on: November 09, 2007, 07:09:33 AM
Ok, thanks for the response. That would be a really sweet thing if you all figured out a way.

I just signed on to LunarPages through your referral and got a dedicated server. I'm LOVING it.

I already have News Portal and Search and Archive and based on what you told me, I am leaning towards Ad Agency as my next component. We have 1000's of articles, so adding anything manually is too inefficient to bother with.

Ad Agency plays into some of the concepts we've been tossing around.

I know I've sent a couple tickets on ideas I'd really like to see. Hopefully you guys have the resources to continue and expedite the great work. Do you guys ever offer timetables for updates and what the updates will consist of? Or do you prefer to avoid that mess? Thanks.
9  iJoomla Sidebars / Pre-Sales Questions / universal in content items on: November 07, 2007, 06:49:01 PM
Can you put banners in all content items or those as noted as such according to category/section or do you have to do it manually?

Thanks.
10  iJoomla RSS Feeder / Pre-Sales Questions / I already use an RSS component on: November 07, 2007, 05:48:34 PM
I another RSS component. It has taken a ton of leg work. Can I use the old rss urls as they are now or will using this RSS component require new, assigned rss urls?

Thanks.
