iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / Who has permissions to do what?
|
on: March 21, 2008, 12:41:31 PM

Your iMagazine manual states the following as having different permissions (all can add content except Registered) but where can I find a more detailed list of permissions?:
Public Front End .... o Registered: o Authors o Editors o Publishers
Public Backend .... o Manager o Administrator o Super Administrator
PS I did a search for "manager" and "admin" in the forum and the same for the tutorial .. I apologize if I somehow overlooked it.

iJoomla Magazine / Troubleshooting / Re: How to create Vertical Zones with list of Articles by category

Sadly, I know what needs to be done to accomplish this ... but not how to do it. You are suggesting I create another HTML layout (added thru the HTML Layouts manager) that has the above code. For each vertical zone I would add the code for the module that would create what I want. I think modifying the mod_current_articles.php file would be easiest but I don't know my PHP enough to know how to modify it to not just list the articles in an issue but also the articles by category (__magazine_categories). Each zone would need a different category specified to appear in that zone. And from there, well ... neeoewm (that's the sound of code going over my head).
If anyone has the expertise to accomplish this, let me know. I'd love to add this functionality to my client's website and am willing to pay. Until then, it's back to the PHP Bible for me (joy!).
Once again, thank you Ricardo! You are always so helpful.

iJoomla Magazine / Suggestions/Ideas / Re: What about having a Category Module?
|

Hmm, I guess I am confused. I thought ... Section = Issue and Category = Content Category
That's how it seems to be in the iJoomla Article Manager. Guess I STILL haven't got this figured out (smile). I'll keep playing with it.
Thank you so much for your help. I keep asking help of the community and I keep getting you, Ricardo ... I'm feeling guilty. I'd be lost without ya! Thanks!

iJoomla Magazine / Troubleshooting / How to you turn off/on a Zone Heading?
|
on: March 16, 2008, 05:19:38 PM
|
|
There does not appear to be a Hide/Show radio button for the Zone Headings. I see there is a Hide/Show radio button for each Article's Heading ... does that affect the zone it is in as well? I want the Article Heading to show but not the Zone Heading it is in. Thank you for any help.

iJoomla Magazine / Suggestions/Ideas / What about having a Category Module?
|
on: March 15, 2008, 04:06:52 PM
|
|
iJoomla has a Section module ("The Magazine Menu module shows a list of all Magazines and associated Issues configured in your database.") ... a few Content Modules for past, current and upcoming articles ("Module that shows all the articles in the default edition.") ... so what about a Category Module that would show a list of all the Categories and Content for each Category for each issue?
You could have it show in the central panel above your vertical and horizontal zones by using {mosloadposition XXX} in the description field of the Issue's General settings.
Has anyone done this and is willing to share their code?

iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / Re: Images In Intro
|

There is a work around I think ... On the Article Edit screen, you could select to SHOW the intro text. On the Issue Edit screen (Design Tab) you could edit the "Intro Text Char Length" to a certain amount then make sure you place the image in your Intro Text AFTER this amount of text characters. So, If you choose to show 150 characters, you would always place your Intro image after the 150th character. There may be a better way, I'm new to this.

iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / Re: multiple articles per heading

When you edit the Article in the Article Editor, click the radio button to Hide Heading for all articles except the first one. So, in your example, Articles 1,6,11 & 13 would SHOW the header and all the rest would HIDE the header.

iJoomla Magazine / Troubleshooting / Re: How to create Vertical Zones with list of Articles by category

Thank you for your quick reply Ricardo.
I am sorry for the misunderstanding but High Tide Magazine appears several times in your iJoomla Magazine client list ... it has confused several of us into thinking we can do things with iJoomla Magazine that we can't.
So, if I modify a module, can it be placed in a Vertical or Horizontal zone? I know you can put a banner at the top by placing a Load Mos tag in the Issue's description ... anything like that with Articles?
Thanks!

iJoomla Magazine / Troubleshooting / How to create Vertical Zones with list of Articles by category
|
on: March 14, 2008, 09:35:24 AM

Each vertical zone would display links to articles by category (in the attached example, the categories are Resort Life, People & Style). Could I incorporate a thumbnail in each zone? It looks like http://www.hightidemagazine.com/index.php has figured out how to do this but has not incorporated images. I understand they could have done this by editing the query that generates the list for the upcoming articles module. Does anyone know how to rework the code to accomplish this? I thought this was a standard feature option of iJoomla so I mocked up a website proposal with this feature incorporated. Guess I got ahead of myself. Any help would be appreciated! Kara
