1  iJoomla Magazine / Report Bugs / permissions and generating newsletter on: June 27, 2008, 02:17:33 PM
I think I have noodled out a problem that has been making me crazy for a couple of months.

The bottom line is that unless you change the permissions on the media folder, the newsletter will not generate an html for an issue. 755 won't cut it. It seems to require a 777 permission on that folder.

I humbly suggest that this info be added to the user manual.
Thanks
2  iJoomla Magazine / Troubleshooting / Ijoomla magazine newsletter issues on: May 28, 2008, 12:57:25 PM
I am unable to generate an html newsletter file or a pdf file saved to the Media folder. Also, if I attempt to preview the newsletter on the newsletter page before sending it, I receive a 404 error page.

If I generate a newsletter as html and email myself straight from the newsletter page, it arrives. However, if I attempt to uncheck the box and send the magazine as a pdf, only an email arrives with the subject line, but there is no attachment. This has never worked BTW.

FYI, the current default issue is published, but there is no html file for the issue. I am able to find last month's html file in the media folder, however.

4  iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / Re: View Coming Issue Offline? on: April 04, 2008, 03:27:51 PM
Sorry. I got it. Here's the answer for anyone else who might have the same question:

Enter the magazine software and create a new issue (e.g.May 2008). Assign a "special" access to it as opposed to "public" or "registered." You'll be able to see it on the back end as an administrator/editor etc. but it will remain invisible to registered front end users until you change its access level in May when you are ready to publish.

Hope this helps someone.
5  iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / View Coming Issue Offline? on: April 04, 2008, 02:14:56 PM
Is there some way to assemble a complete future issue and view it offline for editing and design purposes? That way, there is no need to tweak online when you go live.
Thanks
6  iJoomla Magazine / Support Questions / Re: Fix: Author Bio does not show up in article or with author name on: April 02, 2008, 05:19:25 AM
We have a fix. I have received assistance from both the forum and tech assistance, and the combination did the trick.

For those who may experience the same problems, here are the fixes:

1) When adding text to a bio, if you don't add the text in the "full" bio window in the text editor, bio text may show up only when you click on "view all authors." Clicking on the author name alone will produce the author photo, but no text.

Apparently, you must have mos_magazine published to have the author bio show up on the same page as the article. I did not have it published since I wasn't sure what it does. The bot description in Mambot details says only that the bot "Adds quotes replacer for the magazine," but offers no further guidance. Who'd a thunk?

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the feedback. I did as you asked and it solved half my problem. The full bio text now shows up when you select the author's name in the left column. Previously, it showed up only when you selected the "view all authors" link. That part is fixed.

The half of the problem that remains is that the bio doesn't appear on the article page. The article is clearly labeled with his by-line, so I know it is associated with him. I double checked my selections on the author's page, and I have indeed chosen "yes" in the "Show Mini Profile On Article Page" selection.

Ideas?

If it helps, the article can be accessed at www.autofixworld.com under the Magazine menu listing; article name is Pointless Porsche.

So far, everything has worked perfectly, except the author bio feature. I have only one bio so far; if you click on the author name the picture shows up but not the bio text. If you click on the general "view all authors" link, however, both the picture and accompanying text are visible.

Also, isn't the bio supposed to show up at the end of an article if you select the display bio information option with an article?

Thanks, this is swell software.
