downloaded latest package of magazine for joomla 1.5

running
php 5.25
linux

installation does not report any errors

after install , i go to thew admin

when i click on any link i get

Warning: require_once(/home/...../public_html/administrator/components/com_magazine/utf8/native/strlen.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/...../public_html/libraries/phputf8/utf8.php on line 52

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/...../public_html/administrator/components/com_magazine/utf8/native/strlen.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/..../public_html/libraries/phputf8/utf8.php on line 52

i noticed that the file strlen.php is not located in the folder utf8/native/

but in the folder utf8/mbstring

i tried to place the file strlen.php in the folder utf8/native/
thinking the xml install file was incorrect

but i get the following error

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare utf8_strlen() (previously declared in /home/..../public_html/administrator/components/com_magazine/utf8/native/core.php:38) in /home/...../public_html/administrator/components/com_magazine/utf8/native/strlen.php on line 28

thus can not use at all the back end

2. tried to download a package again and reinstall everything but get the same error

as a quick fix i added the files to the folder native and removed the same function name

it is now letting me access the menus.

however not sure if it will not bring later other problems

i tried before to submit a ticket

just can t register. i enter n/a in the server infos requested  because we can not give out our server access (company policy)

but your system does not allow to register .  maybe i should just try to enter  bogus info and it could let me register but i did not want to do that.

thus i came here to post the error. if you can register for me on your system and send me an email .

great

Hi,
Please contact your hosting service to have them install the mbstring module.
