submenus

I am wondering if someone managed to get this to work:

I my site, in ijoomlademo, and in several sites that use newsportal i see that something is wrong with the menu sistem and the "active" position.

If i set up my main menu to load this way:

News (Newsportal)
|-Sports
|-Politics
|-etc

wen a user clics on any of the sections/categories the submenus disapear (dropline menus)
Also if someone clicks in the section/categories titles or in some article the active menu higlight is gone.

I saw this in other treads, this question is in the old forum, and i see that even in ijoomlademothe same thing works.

Comparing with other components:

Mtree:
If we click some content inside Mtree the menu stays active, and if we make a link in the main menu for a given category and place it like a submenu both stays active, and dropline menus work, sameting hapens with other components that i use: (fireboard, links, alphacontent, etc)

Is there any solution for this? i will try to keep this tread updated with more infos.

but you can look at some featured costumers also from Ijoomla newsportal page:

Good examples:
http://www.collegeskydiving.com (this one seems manage the submenu to "almost" work)

portal.hip-hopchile.com
This one is a perfect example of what appends, all the main menu item have the correct "hilite" exept news portal ones. Check :
Inicio (Home), works;
Secciones (sections) dont work;
at least newsportal sections/categories should "hilite" the main compontent link.
All the other components in that site have a "regular" behaviour.

I checked your site and I can´t find this sort of structure:

I checked this site and neither has this structure but it has an active menu higlight as you can see here (this item is into iJoomla News Portal flow).
Anyway, let me check about this "issue" and I will be back with an answer.

Is "under" a regular section/category blog display, thats why it works.
The newsportal Sef link to a section on that site is something like:

http://www.bikercafe.co.uk/news_portal/Reviews/index.htm.html

and for a category:

http://www.bikercafe.co.uk/news_portal/Sport/British-Superbikes/index.htm.html

and i dont use it on my site because i cant get it to work, i prefer that the users folow the link inside the component that having a submenu that disapears.

You can testit and check if you want:
Just make a menu iten containing the newsportal then assign a newsportal section or category "under it" than tell me if the "hilite" is there. And you can try in any of the best templates makers, thats not a template thing.
