I don't see anyting in the FAQ about security.

Can you tell me a little about the security with Digistore? Also, are there any settings that allow the store owner to limit the number of downloads or that reports the number of downloads? Specifically, once the customer receives the download link, what's the keep them from passing the link to others? Are the download links secure?

If this is a feature, is there a reset for individuals who have download problems?

Since the digistore ties directly into PAYPAL, is there a feature that takes the customer directly to the PAYPAL credit card site, so they don't get confused about needing a PAYPAL account?

Thanks,

Hi,
   Security in what regards.
Users can't just pass around the link to a file to download because users must eb logged in to download.  They can't pass the direct URL of a file do download because all files are moved to a download location before providing the user with their file download link.
They can only access your files if you have't taken the advised security precautions and used a htaccee/password ro protect your Joomla admin section.

There is no feature to limit the number of times a user can download a product. The user has bought the product and it is their right to download it as many times as they want.  It's the same as downloading it once and copying it.

Digistore redirects to paypal.  On the paypal site you can either login or pay by credit card. the paypal site contains links to both methods on the page.

I probably would buy this component, but I definitely need the ability to limit the number of downloads or at least the time the download is available (as in another thread: http://www.ijoomla.com/option,com_smf/Itemid,6000/topic,214.0/  )

If we think about this though, if we have the ability to send someone a link, we also have the ability to send them the username and password...then they can login and download, and pass it to their friends and to their friends friends etc.

not always so. If I buy a music CD at a store, I can't go back to that store whenever I want and just take a new one. I plan on selling downloadable original music mp3's... I'm not a lawyer, but as the artist, I don't see much difference.

I guess that at the end of the day, there is really no way to completely protect the unauthorized sharing of original copyrighted works, as most of us probably know... we can always copy the CD or file and give it to our friends, but still... every little bit helps.

I'd really like to see some functionality like this...

Hi,
These features are interesting. Let me ask to our programmers if they are possible.
Best regards,

How is secure ecommerce provided if there is no SSL cert required, as you state as a feature?

When entering a credit card, I would never put my info into a site that doesn't have an SSL.

What, if any, encryption is there of the data on the server when using a gateway like authorize.net?

Would digistore pass hackersafe or any other cart/transaction approval system?

I have a local chamber of commerce client who wants to sell event tickets, memberships, etc through their site.

I am looking at a few options, including standalone carts, as joomla integration isn't a requirement, per se.

Just wondering what Digistore has to offer.

Your video demo should show more of the back-end interface, as I couldn't figure out how to sell tangible goods, until I saw another screen shot that shows things like description, etc.

Thanks.
