I just installed the News Portal component. When I try to access it I get this message:
-------
The file /home2/anacorte/public_html/administrator/components/com_news_portal/admin.news_portal.php has been encoded with the ionCube PHP Encoder and requires the free ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so ionCube PHP Loader to be installed.
--------
Not really sure what this means. The server is running PHP 4.4.7.

PS: I cannot seem to find a way to file a support ticket. Your system says my email address is unknown to it.

Gads! I just happened to post new content to my site and discovered that the NewsPortal seems to be somewhat active...active enough to prevent any page from opening. So, I uninstalled it. Right now this component doesn't look very good to me. And, my inability to open a support ticket makes support less than adequate.

Hi,
You need ionCube in order to use our commercial extensions.
Check this thread for references.
Anyway, ask to your hosting support if you can install ionCube.
Let me know if you have more doubts about this.

I can´t see any problem with your account on our support system. Anyway, let me know if you have any issue with this.

My host will not install ionCube. So, I followed the directions for run-time install. It works. But, still as soon as I install NewsPortal: logged in at the backend, I get error messages when I try to open the NewsPortal component. And at the front end, whenever I try to open a page, I get error messages, too. So, I uninstalled the News Portal component.

Yes, I did get an account created and submitted a support ticket yesterday. No action there, yet.

Thanks for your good words. They asked that I install the component, thus killing my site, which, as you might imagine, is a local news site. The front page is live, but when a site visitor clicks on a ReadMore or the Blogs component, they get what looks like the NewsPortal front page. And, no story will open. Meanwhile, at the back end, I get an ioncube failure, so I cannot even work on the NewsPortal. In essence I'm dead in the water. And, I don't know if the programmers are in my time zone, or if they're in some time zone where they've gone to bed for the day (my day, that is). I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard.

Solved... I had a php.ini in the administrator directory, which was designed to turn register_globals off. Removing that solved this issue, but leaves me with the Joomla message when I log into the backend with the message:
PHP register_globals setting is `ON` instead of `OFF`
I don't know how to fix that.
