Scroller install fails Joomla 1.0.15 As a licenced owner of two iJoomla components (sidebars and redirects) I tried to install Scroller with the conventional Joomla method (zip file upload). The Joomla install process reported success and directed me to „Continue...”. From the Components menu I started Scrollbar (first menu item) but got the following message: „Please install module mod_ijoomla_scroller in order to properly use this component”.
I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall: the same result. I found that the root/components/com_scroller/ folder is empty, while root/administrator/components/com_scroller/ folder has almost everything that was wrapped in the zip, except followings: no „.settings” folder, other folders are empty, while the root had all files except these three: mod_ijoomla_scroller.php, mod_ijoomla_scroller.xml.mod and .project.
Then I tried the conventional Joomla manual install. Unzipped the scroller.zip locally, tried to upload the full unpacked content to root/administrator/components/com_installer/conmponent/com_scroller/ folder.
Then I realized that the root of the problem would be to create the „.settings” folder. Ftp was unable to execute the MKD command. This folder contain a file „org.eclipse.wst.validation.prefs”. And also I was unable to upload the file named „.project”. When I try to upload this file: it seems to be successfully uploading, but nothing appears in the target folder!! So there are this strange folder and file, the ftp upload doesn’t work with them. But the worst: the folders created under root/administrator/components/com_installer/conmponent/ cannot be deleted anymore, just only being able to rename and leave them like this way.
What to do? I tried to manually upload but without this strange folder (.settings) and file (.project) and installed with Joomla „from directory”. That process also said „Success” but at this time really it was successful. What would be the cause of this phenomena described all above? Was this solution (installing manually without those 2 strange items) correct? This install would be reliable this way?? Anyway it seems to be working...
Best regards, Attila
