iJoomla News - Performance

Hi!

I just love iJoomla News Portal but I have to admit it is slow and recourse intensive. As I have absolutely no intention to give up the iJoomla products, is there any tips & tricks to gain performance? I remember something of that kind in the old forum.

Should I open a support ticket?

We think that the consumption of resources is the necessary for a news portal system. Anyway, we are trying to improve this.

try using the pagecache component as it really helps with performance.

Ijoomla should take more attention to this.

The CSS file for news portal has 159k this is too much.

I use a "heavy" template and even that has only 22k

for this kind of component a css file with this size is way to much.

Average css in some other comp:
Fireboard: 15k
Mosets Tree: 16k
Jcal Pro: 16k
Azrul Joomcomment: 10k
Comunity Builder: 11k
My_blog: 5k

This is quite amazing - can anyone confirm if this is true?!

Given the entire BBC site is 45kb for it's whole CSS, I can't believe that any component could have so much css?! Given it's not even the template for the site layout or anything, this seems mad...

When you build a solution for something specific you just need to include a couple of sources to accomplish that specific needing. But when you build a general solution you need to include all the necessary elements to accomplish that general solution in all the possible scenarios.
As you might know, one of the most important features of iJoomla News Portal is the possibility of cutomize each zone (top, popular, feature, etc). So, it is logic that its css file is including many instructions. This makes its size bigger than other Joomla! extensions´ css files.
Anyway, we are working in order to improve this.

I like NP and i recomment it werever i can.

I was trying to make some constructive crictics only.

Is it possible to store the CSS in the "core" code so that the CSS generated uses only the atributes that NP needs?

I think you should try to optimize this area more and make more use of the "default" joomla CSS atributes like contentsection, sectiontableheader, readmore, etc to make NP lighter.

The main problem for me is that NP is one of the maincoponents and loads in the front/main page of the site.

No problem at all and we are very greatful about all feedbacks because they give us the elements for improving our products. I just was explaining the reason for this. Cool
