Customizing the magazine link

I'd like to use the ijoomla module to run a regular website; how can I rename 'Magazines' and 'Magazine Issues' showing on the front end to a more conventional navigation? Is it possible at all?

Yes, no problem.
Edit the magazine´s module and rename it. That´s all.
