Will a per-order shipping rate be possible in any upcoming versions?
Charging shipping for every single product is not ideal, and if you have even just 50 products, you have to invest a chunk of time to updating each individual product shipping rate/amount.
It would be nice to be able to specify a flat rate per order, and only add shipping to larger items on a per product basis, for example.
This has an impact on CD stores in particular, I have discovered.
To make it worthwhile, they have to set their shipping higher than necessary (they lose every time they ship outside Europe, because Digistore doesn't allow for international shipping rates - a higher shipping rate per CD means they recoup those loses). BUT: when a domestic or European customer orders more than one CD, they are paying entirely too much for shipping, which puts customers off. HUGELY. How do we know? Thanks to iJoomla Surveys
(And US customers are put off by the hideous rates of exchange between Euro and Dollar, even though the shipping is half what it should be for them!)
The shipping rates are just about the most problematic part of Digistore. Maybe not so much for US customers, but definitely for European.
