Wanting to see if iJoomla Magazine would help us.

We are designers trying to put up a Joomla-based monthly, archiveable by issue, searchable by categories/subcategories. Articles to be able to be placed in multiple categories, and searchable through all the past archived issues, as well as current

(I am trying to get my head around the whole thing) wondering if the homepage, or a pic of it from past issues could be on a archive page and the past issues could be read as a whole issue from their "homepage" and try to understand how to set up all the sections, categories, subcategories without going down too many "blind alleys" along the way, Thanks

HI,

The way to achieve this is to use 2 of our products:

1. iJoomla Magazine
2. iJoomla Search & Archive

When you create magazines/issues, it would be a good idea to name the magazine the same as your section or category and the issue the month of the issue. For example "Dec 2007".

As for subscriptions, it's not something we offer but there are a few subscription components out there.

Actually have a couple more questions.

Can you describe this a bit more

"When you create magazines/issues, it would be a good idea to name the magazine the same as your section or category and the issue the month of the issue. For example "Dec 2007"."

Does that mean we have to duplicate all the sections/categories each month?

I am planning on having several sections and several categories for each section, want to keep the issues separate by month

For example:

Travel
   Hotels
   Restaurants
   Skiing
   Fishing

Equipment
   Fishing
   Skiing

Just not sure what you mean about naming the mag the same as section or category

Hi,
That's your Joomla!'s structure of sections and categories, not your iJoomla Magazine's magazines/issues.
In your case I suggest you to give an specific name to your Magazine (for exp. Turism), and name your issues with month/year.

Turism (magazine)
-Jan 08 (issue)
-Feb 08 (issue)
-Mar 08 (issue)
-.....

Inside every issue you can add articles from all your categories:

Turism (magazine)
-Jan 08 (issue)
--3 hotel's articles
--2 restaurant's articles
--4 fishing's articles
--....

If you have any doubts, please let us know.
Best regards,

My question here is how to display the sections of the magazine.

We have one magazine bi-monthly.

The magazine has several sections in it.

From Joomla perspective we have 1 section - Articles
Then we have the Joomla categories representing the magazine sections.

From the iJoomla perspective we have Magazine and Issues.

In this situation we need to display the magazine articles by the categories. We also need to display that an article is from a specific section/category, normally done with paths.

How can we do this. The URL is http://www.realestateinvestormag.co.za

Hi,
You can use Magazines and Issues. In your Issues you can use Headers in order to organize your content by categories.

At this point you can“t show the section/category on your issue page.
