multiple magazines on existing joomla site

Hi,

I am trying to setup multiple magazines in an existing joomla site that uses a joomla template. My question is if I can use different templates for each magazine with its own layout instead of using the same theme that exists in the main site? If so, how? If so, could such a template be either the included one or a purchased third party template?

Yes, you can. You only need to go to "Template Manager" and set a different template for different magazines.

Would you please confirm then, that it is possible, with IJoomla Magazine to have more than one [1] magazine on a single installation of Joomla? And that you are able to create the required issues/categories for each publication with IJoomla Magazine?

Hi miamiman,
You can have one instance of iJoomla Magazine in one Joomla! installation with as many Magazines and Issues as you want. More details...

Further to my previous question and with regards to the LIVE EXAMPLE [Ijoomla + Online Dating], please confirm:

1. That the two sites are operating on one [1] single installation of Joomla?

2. That both sites are operating on one [1] single installation of iJoomla as a component?

3. And if that is the case, how do you set up the domains to point correctly to the proper sub-directories? Presently we have various Joomla installs for various titles on one public_html directory and have the domains redirected [but masked].

In addition to the time spent managing ALL these sites, by redirecting + masking to proper directories, we are hindering our SEO efforts. I would like to know how iJoomla Magazine handles the domain issue.

4. Finally, yes... I too am waiting eagerly for the Joomla 1.5 release.

I think there is a misunderstanding. With iJoomla Magazine you can have all the magazines and issues that you need. But all of them are in the same domain and with 1 Joomla! installation.
If you need to have each Magazine in a different domain, you will need one license and one Joomla! installation per domain.

Ricardo, what about subdomains? Will a single iJoomla license suffice for sub1.domain.com, sub2.domain.com and sub3.domain.com ?

Yes, no problem with that.
Just remember set your subdomain before you download the extension.
Ex.
Live:
- iJoomla.com
Subdomains:
- sub1
- sub2
- sub3

Would you please confirm then that you could have: www.magazine1.com point to => magazine1.domain.com, and www.magazine2.com point to => magazine2.domain.com, etc.?

All on one Joomla installation with Ijoomla?

No, you can´t.
Each license is for 1 domain (Live and Dev).
If I have 1 License, I can set the Live domain (for public site) and the Dev domain (for testing only).
Ex.
My live domain is: ijoomla.com.
I need iJoomla Magazine on my main domain and its subdomains: ijoomla.com, sub1.ijoomla.com, sub2.ijoomla.com, etc.
In order to be able to have this I need 1 joomla installation for each instance (ijoomla.com, sub1.ijoomla.com, sub2.ijoomla.com, etc) and on each one, I need a iJoomla Magazine installation.
When I go to download the package, I will see 2 sort of downloads: LIVE and DEV. Click on LIVE and fill the live domain for the license (ijoomla.com) then, fill the subdomains for that license on your LIVE site (sub1, sub2, etc). And that´s all. This download will work on your ijoomla.com, sub1 and sub2 sites.
Please read this thread for more references...
Each iJoomla Magazine License supports as many magazines, issues and articles as you need. But all of them need to be on the same domain or subdomain.
