Is it possible to adjust the quality of the image thumbnails that News Portal produces?  I have sized the images I am using so that the dimension ratios don't change, but of course the thumbnail process is introducing some quality reduction.  I would like to find where in the code it is creating the thumbnails and up the quality a bit.  I am only using 200x200 for my largest (top stories) size and the thumbs that news portal is producing have a fair amount of artifacting on them.  I have browsed the code, but can't find where this is happening.  Clues would be welcome.

Thanks,
Bryan

Once again I just need to look harder.  The create_thumbnails function in news_portal.html.php is where this is at.  They use the imagejpeg, imagegif and imagepng functions.  Quality can be set there.

You should post your findings in the tips and tricks section for others who could use the info.

Is there a way to make a different setting for the main image and then the smaller ones? Because I'd like the main one to use 100% but the others to use maybe 50%.

Hi,
There is no way to do that in the same zone. But you can do that using two zones. Ex. top stories (100%) and leading stories (50%)

At this point you can´t set different thumbnail settings.

On iJoomla News Portal for J! 1.0 you can find this file under this folder:
components/com_news_portal/
But we don´t have this file on our J! 1.5 version.

No wonder why I couldn't see it.  Wink

Is there a way to do this in Joomla 1.5?
