I was revisiting the installed iJoomla News Portal, and the Joomlart NewsPortal templates in my websites.  Obviously, the Joomlart NewsPortal templates are much better because iJoomla is not into templates.

What I wanted to do is gut down the "default format" of the iJoomla Magazine front page, and use as a start modified JA Teline as front page, and perhaps some other templates for specific sections.

In the JA Teline default format, iJoomla Magazine modules such as:

  • the Magazine sections and issues shall be reduced as categories of the JA News, or other default and new  sections created in the JA Teline

  • the list of and links to Magazine sections and issues, instead of presented as modules in the main JA Teline front page would then be presented and accessedthrough the "navigstional menus", particularly, the "Main Menu" at the top.
  • the Categories headings in the "JA  News" and some other Module Headings in the JA Teline, when clicked should transport the visitor to the individual Magazine Sections
  • the features of the iJoomla Magazine software would then be used to help integrate the various Issues and Sections -- perhaps so that the latest news and articles would be presented not only in specific sections but issues but hyperlinked with the Current Issues of the Magazine Portal, as well as the current issues of the sections.
  • the afformentioned would be done through such features like "related articles", "related links", "Articles by this Author". etc.

I hope the above could be readily achieved. During my support correspondence with Merav, we agreed that there are features of the iJoomla Newsportal that are not  in the Magazine.  She indicated that some of these features would be integrated into the Magazine; or versa.  I hope we shall see more of this in teh future.

You can try to integrate iJoomla Magazine to JA Teline. This can be done, but I´m not sure if is possible to implement all your ideas.
