1) The table view for results doesn’t paginate, so you will only get one page of results. This is inadequate when there are hundreds of results, or more.

2) The component won’t show public categories that are in private (registered or special users only) sections, but you can create a direct link to those categories. You can also create direct links to private categories that will show public/guest users results that may display some of the private article text. Anyone can manipulate URLs to do this.

Ricardo, are you suggesting support will do something about this for me? They will not.

You made the same suggestion on another post I made here, and I opened a ticket to see what would happen. As expected, support does not mean custom software development.

These are not bugs, they are flaws and essential features the extension currently lacks.

What I meant in the second point is this...

If section "Private" is restricted to registered or higher access users, and if its category "Public" is not restricted at all, "Public" will not appear in the S&A indexes regardless of the component's settings.

It is still possible to get S&A listings for the "Private" category in this example by manipulating URLs. Add any category ID you want in the place of "NUMBER":

/index.php?option=com_ijoomla_archive&task=archive&search_archive=1&act=search&catid=NUMBER&ptitle=TEXTNAME&lang=

By doing this you can get S&A to display results for private categories. You can't click through to them, but you can see their titles and possibly an excerpt.

In other words, the Search & Archive component does not respect user and content access levels to a minimally adequate level.
