How to re-build news portal menu items
Sometimes, after upgrading iJoomla News Portal, the News menu links stop working. If that happens, you need to re-build those links. Our own Ricardo Corai has created this video with funky music and the instructions below.
iJoomla News Portal creates 3 menu in your Joomla! site: News Portal Content, News Portal Categories and News Portal Sections.
In order to rebuild the menu items included in these menus, follow these steps:
- Delete all the menu items included in News Portal Content menu
- Menus->News Portal Content
- Check all menu items
- Delete
- Delete all the menu items included in News Portal Categorie menu
- Menus->News Portal Content
- Check all menu items
- Delete
- Delete all the menu items included in News Portal Sections menu
- Menus->News Portal Content
- Check all menu items
- Delete
- Delete the items from the menu trash too ( important).
- Menu-> Menu trash
- Check all menu items
- Delete
- Now you need to save each of the content managers on news portal to rebuild the menu items
- Go to iJoomla News Portal -> Managers Content.
- Click on Sections to access the sections manager, click SAVE
- Click on Categories to access the sections manager, click SAVE
- Click on Content Items to access the sections manager, click SAVE

Hi Merav,
I have a question regarding news portal, does it come with a template and how big a job is it to rebuild a whole site if we changed to it?
Is their any way of downloading a demo version to experiment with.

Charles, it doesn’t come with a template because it works with any template :-). The cool thing about it is that you don’t have to re-build anything, because it uses the core joomla articles. So you will have a page for articles from all sections/categories and also a page for each section/category.
