Sneak Peek: iJoomla LMS – Learning Management System for Joomla

We believe that everyone is an expert in something. If you know something that others don’t, there is no better time to profit from it. You can create a course about your topic and start generating income. And the great thing about creating a course online is that it’s almost completely hands off. You can create it once, then let the money roll in.

So what knowledge do YOU possess? Are you an expert programmer? A keen angler? A raw food chef? Whatever you know, someone would like to learn about it — and is willing to pay for it. If you’re dreaming of quitting your day job, getting rid of that obnoxious boss and working from home, then creating a course online will allow you to do so carefully. You can work on your course in the evenings and the weekends, and when it starts generating income, you can make your dream come true.

We’ve been working on iJoomla LMS, our working title for the system, for the past two years. It’s taken a lot longer than we expected but we’re back on track and I can show you some of the cool features we have in store for you.

Usability:

Since this is our newest extension, and since usability has become an increasingly important part of our product design, you will notice that iJoomla LMS is using a number of new methods to create and manage content. For example:

  • A course tree offers a visual representation of your course. You can re-order modules and steps, as well as add and delete them on the fly, posting new media and courses at the same time.iJoomla LMS Tree
  • Extensive grayboxes allow you to stay on the same page and provide a better user experience.
  • Steps layouts let you choose visual layouts for each step and select easily the media, text and narration.

Powerful features:

We wanted to make it possible for you to do what you need to do the way you want to do it. That’s why we took our time creating some extremely powerful features. These include:

  • A super powerful media manager that supports every possible media type. For example, there are four ways to add a video to your course: upload a video; choose an existing video; use an external video (YouTube, etc.); and even use a video code displayed on someone else’s website.

  • A visual course tree that does everything you need to do in one place.
  • A flexible hierarchy that lets you created unlimited categories and nested categories.
  • All the payment Plugins that suit your country and your needs.

Conversion tools

Converting your visitors into paying students is everything. We provide a number of tools to help you with your conversions:

  • Promo codes to increase urgency.
  • Teaser content to let people try before they buy.
  • Discounts for repeat purchases.
  • Automated emails to stay in touch with leads.

Easy management:

Even managing your courses is a breeze!

  • The Students Manager lets you manage your students and track their progress.
  • The Orders Manager makes managing and creating orders very simple.

So, when is it out?

Hard to tell. We’re about 75% done with the backend but only 20% done with the front end, so there’s probably a few more months of work left. When it’s ready though, were really hope that iJoomla LMS will be the most powerful LMS solution, and not just for Joomla. We want you to be able to convert your knowledge into dollars!

The one big thing about LMS’s in the corporate world (where the money is spent) is having an ACL where you have the people creating/managing the courses, managers adding employees via web forms or self signup, then being able to get reports on tests to their managers, and easy employee signup with the ability for managers to claim the signup.

Another biggie is being able to completely brand the site and control flow. Also, employees need to be able to save where their at to come back and resume the testing. Download a trial version of the competitors products to implement question types. Those are important.

We spent about $6k last year on the joomlalms.com LMS (biggest product they have) and have a LOT of experience to share. We had them do a lot of custom programming.

Reports, reports, reports, and being able to export the results to excel.

    There’s a small list of needs. 🙂

Very interested in this new product and agree with the points made elsewhere. As a company providing training and consultancy this is just the sorta thing we are looking for.

We are currently redesigning and re-deploying our site using joomla and this would provide an extremely useful addition to what is primarily designed as a research tool at present.

We would also like the ability to provide ‘stand alone'(i.e. DVD) E-learning packages as bandwidth and internet access has proven problematic in various scenarios we have encountered in the past.

Oh and could we have it start of next week please! 🙂

    Excellent!

Yet again, iJoomla.com is thinking ahead. I think your intro strategy description above is right on target: create once; re-use many times. Online education opportunities are just going to mushroom I think.

So iJoomla LMS sounds like an intriguing new Component you have in the making.

In fact, we’re working on a new website development (webinar-based course) that could really benefit from this now (isn’t that always the case? 🙂

Therefore, please let me know when iJoomla LMS is available; I’d love to take a closer look.

Once it’s released, I appreciate that for a while there will most likely be some minor bugs, but that’s expected and is okay; I know you folks will work through those – and the level of help iJoomla.com provides is stunning, so I’m quite happy to simply trust that you’ll work out any problems.

    Congratulations!

    Hi iJoomla guys,

Great to hear an alternative to JoomlaLMS is coming out. As a social network site owner, I am just curious about 3rd party social integration of this new product.

Will it integrate well with Jomsocial?
I would like my members to be able to sell courses.

Any response will be appreciated. 🙂

    Thx.

Alright already, the suspense is killing me. I love your products and can’t wait to get my hands on this lms script. If it is anything like your other products it will be awesome. I too would be interested in being a beta tester.
